This variance is decreased whenever you add more characters to a simulation, as they’re less likely to all be doing more or less DPS than usual at the same time. This means that there is an extra level of variance depending on much damage is being done to the target. The simulations don’t end on a pre-set timer, but when a target dummy set up in the simulation dies. Usually you would think that this means that all simulations run are between 240 and 360 seconds long, but that isn’t exactly what happens. This is especially the case for Windwalkers using Serenity in default 300 seconds 20% variance simulations as there is often a Serenity cast at the very end of the longest of those simulations. Many may not know this, but simulation results can often be skewed depending on the amount of characters being simulated in the same simulation. ![]() Losing DPS when Doing Comparison-Simulations? Using the T20M profile with Engine as the only trinket, these were the results. As with the line for Infernal Cinders, this applies to all characters in the profile, so you will have to run the simulation several times if you want to check for different amount of orbs collected. ![]() You can edit how many orbs are being picked up in your simulations by adding the following line into your simulation profile “ legion.engine_of_eradication_orbs=” followed by the number of orbs you expect to pick up on average. In the simulation results below i used the T20M Windwalker profile with only a Vial and then replaced it with Infernal Cinders in the comparison.Įven with 7 users and 93.6% crit, Infernal Cinders still loses to Vial but isn’t too far behind.Įngine on the other hand, is a pretty good trinket for Windwalkers, but sometimes you can’t pick up all the orbs consistently and might consider taking a trinket more consistent for that fight. NOTE: This line will apply the crit chance buff to all simulated characters in a profile. If you in your simulation profile add the line “ legion.infernal_cinders_users=” in and then the number of infernal cinders being used in your raid team, it will increase the crit chance on the trinket. If you do happen to have people in your raid team using it, there is a way to apply the extra crit chance from their trinkets in your simulations. ![]() While Infernal Cinders isn’t used much as it by itself isn’t very good for Windwalkers, and the specs that do use it – Retribution and Havoc – aren’t very popular, so you’re unlikely to have many other Infernal Cinders buffing yours. Infernal Cinders and Engine of Eradication The reason simulations don’t do it this way is that it would at default fight timers lose vial casts, and therefore overall damage. However, in reality you would use Specter first right as you enter serenity and then use Vial at the end of Serenity to gain the damage bonus on all specter hits and on the initial tick of vial. When both are equipped, simulations will use Vial as soon as it can and then focus on fitting Specter into Serenity whenever possible to also have 2 specter hits. The Windwalker simulation profile uses these 2 trinkets together differently than is otherwise the most optimal way of doing it in-game. I got some questions over the last week from people believing that simulations are using these 2 trinkets wrong when both are equipped, and that is partly true. After my last post, some people have been reaching out to me on discord with questions, and i realized there were a few more things to explain, so here’s a follow-up with some extra things.
